Blog of the Week Plug - Sea of Shoes

Long before I decided I wanted to blog I lurked, read, perused, and reviewed hundreds of blogs. Why you ask, well because research is key in all endeavors, shopping included, but more on that later. . .With millions of people blogging it is a daunting task to pick the best, but here at DC Style Blender, I am your go to girl for the best of all things style related.

So, once a week I will pick a blog, give a small description, a link, and my personal nickname for the blogger. Because nicknames are cute. Natch. Later on in the week I will show you, dear readers, how best to translate the chosen blogs admittedly edgy fashions into a wearable functional DC look. Because well...we are more conservative here and that is just the way it is.

So without further ado, I give you my blog pick of the week. Enjoy and please comment. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Toodles kittens! xoxo

Blog Name: Sea of Shoes
Blog Writer: Jane
Nickname: Dakota Fanning of Fashion

Content: High end chic shoes, mixed with over the top vintage finds, an enviable array of accessories, and a courageous silhouette choices. The girl is just bad. I mean, bad as in badass. At 17 years old she has more style, knowledge, and presence then most will ever have. And she is funny and nice too! Plus I believe Jane has the world's cutest mom and fashion partner. They are a fantastic duo. Jane has the wit to pair Prada with Anthropology and add splashes of Forever 21. A recent purchase of Martin Margiela Cut Out Boots made me reconsider a whole type of shoe option as possible and totally needed for my own wardrobe. Touted by Lucky, Teen Vogue, and various bloggers in the world webby, it is a given that Jane will be a serious Somebody in the fashion world by the age of 25. Which is why I call her the Dakota Fanning of the Fashion World. She is the child leader and honestly I'd follow her style anywhere it would lead.

Watch This Space. . .Who What Wore

The title "Stylish and Fashionable Washingtonian" is not the misnomer that it used to be. As the Gays, say we are here and we are fabulous. . . or is it we are here and we are queer?. . .anytotalyofftopicway. . .I like my version so that's what we'll stick with.
Some of us here in DC are fabulous, fashionable, style mavens. Our existence is not to be denied any longer.
Part of my mission on this blog, as I have chosen to accept it, is to show the people, places, homes, and shops in DC where style is not just a word but a way of life.
To that end a bi-monthly feature will be "Who What Wore." A mini-expose of a local person with a great eye for fashion and design. The general concept is as follows. . .three photos showing an outfit they wear to work, what they wear to go out in, and their most reliable or favorite outfit. These photos will be followed by a list of six questions, some silly, some style related, but all focused on getting to know a stylish Washingtonian.
Email me at styleblenderdc@gmail.com if you or someone you know should be submitted for the Who What Wore feature.
Meanwhile it is a wild world of style out there, so best to stay safe by avoiding Crocs and harem pants. . .till next time kittens!!

The Start of Something Beautiful

I am a young lady living and hanging out in DC with my husband (aka The Hubs), my doggie (aka The PrincessPea), and my friends (aka The Chicks).

I love style, I love decor, I love fashion, and I love writing, hence the blog.

In some ways DC is more stylish and fashionably relevant than one would think. We've come a long way.

In direct contrast to the now famous statement, politics/Washington DC is no longer just Hollywood for ugly people. And yet, in a town where khaki's, Brooks Brothers, and unfortunate footwear are still di reguire, we still have a long way to go.

So join me in the weeks to come. . .we will review and advise on the good, the bad, the ugly, and the indifferent style of Washington DC.

See you soon kittens!!
